Anna–4 Months Old

My Anna Elizabeth, you are around 13 pounds and lengthening out everyday it seems. You are wearing 3 – 6 month and 6 month clothing. Mostly 6 months in pants. We are also using cloth diapers regularly now.

We’ve settled into a good routine with you this past month. You started school with your big brother and so its naturally forced us into a 7am – 8pm daytime schedule with you. You still eat about every 3 hours and nap about every 90 minutes with a few stretches here and there of three hours between naps. At the beginning of the month you were sleeping through the night, but then you got sick. And you were up and down all night for a couple of weeks. We think this sleep disturbance was partly because of your cold and partly because of the known 4 month sleep regressions. But you’ve finally recovered and settled out again. You definitely like your sleep. And honestly we do too.

And just for comparison’s sake, here is James at about the same age showing off his leggers too!

This month you got very very sick Anna. You had only been to school for about 5 days before you developed a bad cold. The sniffles turned into a cough which got down in your lungs and gave us all a scare. That night I took you to the ED because we couldn’t slow your breathing. You were breathing about 80 times a minute, 40 is the average. They tried multiple breathing treatments but nothing worked. So they put you on oxygen and admitted us. I’ll talk more about this in a separate post, but we are so happy you are feeling better now.

You love to be on your play mat and reach and grab for your toys. You’re doing really well with putting things in your mouth once you grab them. Your favorite toy is your rings. I promise we helped you get out of the predicament below, as soon as James was done taking your picture though.

People keep telling us that you must be teething since you stick your fists in your mouth all the time. I’m not sure I believe them since this seemed to be something you did a lot while in the womb too. When you were born your little hands were covered with red marks.

You are also starting to talk to us more this month. And your laugh is just adorable.

DSC02285

I often call you sweet cheeks, since they seem to weigh you down at times.

DSC02333

You have such a sweet sweet smile, Anna. I could just laugh with you all day.

You’ve been working on tummy time and rolling over. You’ve managed to roll from your tummy to your back a few times although I still wonder if you know you’re doing it. You haven’t yet rolled from back to tummy, but you do tend to practice this in the middle of the night and end up running into the side of the bassinet instead.

Your nick names also include: Anna Beth, Annabelle, sweet girl, and your brother calls you Missy Missy. But whenever anyone asks him what his sister’s name is he always says Anna Elizabeth. Melts my heart.

This month’s chair photo outfit is brought to you by my dear friend Margaret. Thank you! We love it!

You are such a good baby Anna. Very go with the flow and happy to just be with us wherever we go.

DSC02486

It was much easier to get a smile out of you this month.

DSC02529

And just for a look back at how much you’ve grown since your first month!

DSC00082

As your dad and I go through these days with you, we often find ourselves talking about you as “the best baby ever.” As in wow I can’t believe she is still sleeping, or still smiling, and we’ll say “that’s because she’s the best baby ever.” We hope we’re not jinxing ourselves, but we do think you’re a very happy baby!

We love you Anna Elizabeth and are so happy you’ve joined our family. We look forward to watching you develop more and more personality as you discover the world around you.

Love, Mama and Mpampa
