A Thankful Home

Here at our little cottage home, we have much to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving.

First, George and I are thankful for each other. When I think back to May 26, 2007, I am completely humbled by the fact that George chose to spend the rest of his life with me. We took those first steps together as husband and wife agreeing to a lifetime with one another. Words can not express how much love the thought of that commitment evokes. I am so grateful that God sent this man to be my husband and we are so thankful to have one another.

This is actually my favorite photo from our wedding, because this moment right here was my favorite moment from the day. We had completed the ceremony and were technically married! We had been able to spend some time alone taking pictures and enjoying the ride to the reception. And when we walked in we saw all of our bridal party chatting, eating and enjoying themselves. We found this chair, a drink and stole a few more moments to ourselves to reflect on the fact that we had just been married. Together forever and ready to celebrate.

Secondly, we are thankful for our families today. For those that raised us and supported us through all the milestones in our lives. Who gave us homes to live in, love to share, and opportunities to become the people we are today. We are lucky to have both sets of parents in the same town to share in all our important moments in life together. And these wonderful folks are preparing to become grandparents and aunt very soon!!

(I personally am thankful Nacho Peanut will have a Thia/Aunt that is willing to stick her tongue out for photos…imagine the fun they'll have together!!)

Speaking of Nacho Peanut! George and I are so thankful for the opportunity God's given us to become parents. To think that we've been chosen to carry this particular child, entrusted to raise this child and love this child forever is sometimes too much for my simple mind to comprehend. There have already been so many decisions we've had to make on behalf of peanut and he/she's not even living on the outside yet. I'm beginning to understand a little more each day what people mean when they talk about having children.

Besides my ever expanding belly, George and I have made some changes within our cozy cottage home to make room for baby. The dogs and George's desk have been relocated from the office to the sunroom. And with that move came a massive clean out, which has to happen more often than you think a smaller place. There were many things George and I were so happy to see go out the door. And now the office is the Nursery!! There's a nursery in our house!! I can hardly believe my eyes when I see it. Oh, did you want to see it too? Well, I have prepared a little sneak peak for you from painting day and crib assembly day, hope you enjoy!

First came the in decision. Can you see all those squares of green paint? Yeah, and I didn't even choose one of them!

Then came my helpers. The taller one really was the most helpful. The short one spent most of the day wishing she could help – and by help she meant get dog hair in the paint and tail marks on the wall. She was much better suited to have this view while we painted.

And Glory did make an appearance for a moment before retiring to her princess bed.

Mom and Dad brought over the crib and graciously stayed to help put it together. I'm so glad they did! I wouldn't have been that much help to George.

And once it was finished and the bedding was on, I was happier than I thought I could be about the bed my baby would sleep in. Thank you so much!!

As we complete more of the nursery I promise to share, but right now there's a lot of furniture and nothing hanging on the walls! But, baby has a place to lay its head and that's all that matters :)

George and I have so much more to be thankful for…dear friends, our jobs, our health…we just wanted to take a moment and reflect on this Thanksgiving to share. We wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving too.
