One Month Old

James, today you are one month old!

You are 8 pounds 15 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long, both in the 50th percentile.

We have loved every minute of your first month with us. I can't believe how much you've changed already. You are discovering how your arms and legs move, and you love kicking! The bouncy seat is a favorite of yours as is laying flat with your arms and legs free.

I have loved being home with you. Most days we have a pretty good schedule of every 3 hour feedings during the day and every 4 hours at night. Of course every day is different. You like to keep me guessing and busy…doing all your mounds of laundry! We love all the faces you make and have hundreds of photos of them all. We also love the smiles you give us and can't wait until they're intentional!

We like to call you James, Little Man, Dude (well your dad calls you dude), Buddy/Bud, Buggy, Sweet Baby, Little Brother, and Fuss Pot (especially useful when you're fighting sleep and driving us crazy.)

Speaking of your sisters…they love to take care of you and are always interested in what you're up to. They are learning the boundaries and how to be gentle.

You have also been working on your tummy time. Laney is most concerned when we do this. She whimpers and looks at you like you're hurt. And then looks at me like I'm the worst mom ever and I've left you upside down to fend for yourself. She was so upset the other day I had to make her leave the room. She loves you very much. Glory is just waiting for you to grow big enough to play with her, but she loves to follow you around.

I've been thinking a lot about how we'd document your growth over the next months. My first thought was the chick. You liked this one and actually gave me a little smile!

But then I remembered this quilt my Aunt Dorothy made you. It's perfect! Now we can document your growth with color bars :)

James we love you more than we ever thought we could. We can't wait to see what next month holds.
