Calling all parents, parents-to-be, and others who are in the know!
We're looking for help in registering for baby peanut. There are thousands of baby items out there, some useful some not and we're hoping you all can help us narrow down the list.
What things are:
1. You have got to have these things!
2. Sounds crazy but really this is useful!
3. Don't waste your money!
4. Mostly impractical but still cute.
5. Best stores to register for baby.
After news of good health for our 20 week ultrasound last week…
Baby Peanut says "THANK YOU!" for your help from the inside
And from the outside!

Absolute must have: a Miracle Blanket (or maybe two, so you can have one in the wash and one on the baby). This was hands down the most helpful thing we had for Liam. For awhile there we feared we'd have to send one with him to college. Also--the Itzbeen timer. This wins the award for "biggest surprise necessity" and was the thing that Matt registered for and I thought it was just a guy gadget and it turned out to be absolutely necessary for us. By around the 2nd or 3rd week we would have had no idea if the kid had eaten or slept if it weren't for that thing.
For some reason I showed up as "FD" in that last comment. I don't really know why, exactly...I'm not trying to hide, I promise.
Kate, I'd be happy to go to Babies R US with you sometime
Kate- I just ordered a Miracle Blanket today b/c the cheap swaddle blankets aren't big enough and Kayleigh arms keep coming out. I think it really helps her sleep. We borrowed most of the big stuff...highly recommend that=)
Little things like the sleep positioner - I registered for the one that is on a slope and helps reduce colic and all sorts of stuff. Kayleigh would just roll down it in the middle of the night and I didn't think that seemed safe. Now we just have the cheap flat positioner.
If you are interested in cloth diapers let me know and I call fill you in on what works for us. So far I really like them...as much as you can like cloth=) You look great and I can't wait to hear whether you had a boy or a girl. Congrats on waiting to find out.
I just finished reading Babywise - that's a good book and one I would recommend reading before your little one is born.
Oh and a boppy is the greatest invention ever that is a most have!! I love it for feeding, but it was also nice when I feed my niece a bottle.
Okay that's all I can think of and Kayleigh is crying in her crib!! Hope that all made sense.
I've been meaning to reply to this post for so long! Baby Wise was a tremendously helpful book for establishing a routine and good sleep habits. As for gear, we have loved our bumbo, infant carrier carseat (instead of using the convertible ones right away) bc they make it so easy to tote around a sleeping baby, shopping cart/high chair cover, medela steam sterilizer bags for pump parts, bottles, etc. Other things are probably a bit more baby specific, but Darcy still loves Soothie pacifiers and her Fisher Price Soothe & Glow Seahorse. Registering is so fun - enjoy!
