Searching for a tree

The weekend after Thanksgiving we headed up to Hunter’s Tree Farm to “cut down” our family tree. First of all, I am completely shocked that we got our tree in the month of NOVEMBER! I have never been that organized for Christmas. And truth be told I have loved having it set up all month, despite what James thinks.

I put “cut down” in quotes because we actually didn’t cut it ourselves. They had Cypress trees available to cut, but after a couple years of Cypress we decided one of their pre cut Fir trees is the way to go. James agreed!

We did take some time to enjoy the farm by walking through the rows of trees, snapping pictures and sipping our hot cocoa.

We attempted the family Christmas card picture, but ultimately decided on another photo. I still love the natural setting of this picture though.

George and I used to take self portraits everywhere we went in our dating and early marriage days. This year we added this cute little nose to the shot.

James was also able to visit Santa while we were there. This was his first time with the jolly man and he did a great job! No smiles, but at least no tears. George and James also got in a little dance to start the season off right. James LOVES to dance with George and its just precious to watch.

We had a wonderful time and it was a gorgeous day, but also freezing. This is James’ “its cold” face. I see it every morning on the way into school. It cracks me up, because he’s able to keep this expression the entire time we’re outside.

They also had this fun antique tractor. James couldn’t wait to try it out. He knew just what to do like he’d been on one before. He even knew right where to find the gear shift.

From his tractor to yours, James wishes you a
Very Merry “Cold Face” Christmas!
