Over Memorial day we headed down to Santa Rosa beach with our friends for what we hoped would be a relaxing vacation.
Lesson #1: Don’t ever be fooled that vacation with children will be relaxing.
Lesson #2: When you work so hard before vacation to get ready to go, you will inevitably get sick when you finally go.
Lesson #3: Really look at the pictures you take of your kids while you’re there. Make sure they still have that sparkle in their eye and are feeling well before you drag them to the beach for hours on end.
By the end of the trip James and George were diagnosed with double ear infections and I ended up with a stomach bug. With all that being said, here’s the good, the bad and the sickos of our trip.
Most of the trip revolved around eating, like any good vacation.I don’t think Chen got but one bite of yogurt between these two vultures.
Seaside was not far from our house so we spent the first night walking around the town for dinner. Love this sweet baby boy!
I didn’t get any pictures from our first full day on vacation since George was laid up in bed all day and I was caring for what I didn’t know at the time was a sick baby.
This was the start of our second day at the beach. This would also be supporting evidence of Lesson #3. Poor kid.
Things got a little better, but he was still pretty hesitant with the sand.
Even after naps, he was still CRANKY and not too happy about wagoning to the pool.
Day 3 Beach. Still not the happiest kid on the block.
He loved Austin’s little beach chair, just his size. He was so funny about wanting to keep his crocs on while in the sand.
And then he ate it by the fist fulls.
Hah!
Beach babies in bucket hats.
Liz and Chen were so sweet to let George and I go out to dinner for our anniversary. Four amazing years together and we celebrated by being sick….woohoo!
James learned how to say snack on this trip. Except he says “nack'” which is pretty stinkin cute. I believe in this picture he’s saying “nack, nack, nack” while vigorously pointing at the cooler. Now every time he sees that cooler he thinks there are plenty of “nacks” inside.
Again with the cracker nacks.
This was our last day at the beach. George, James and I had spent the morning at the urgent care in Destin. Three hours, 4 infected ears, 2 trips to CVS, and one exhausted mama later we made it home for naps before our last time on the beach.
He seemed ok with the diagnosis and was glad to have an antibiotic to help him feel better.
We headed to Seaside again for our last night. It was beautiful!
There was an outdoor concert going on and James started directing to the music. So adorable. This kid loves music.
Thank you Liz, Chen and Austin for putting up with us sickos on your vacation!! We really did have fun with y’all!
Happy Summer!
