4 Months Old

James, you turned 4 months old this past Friday. Instead of taking you cupcakes at school to celebrate, we left early and went to your favorite store…Babies R Us!

This month you have been VERY busy developing. In fact you slowed down on growing in order to work on your brain power instead. You now weigh 12 pounds 14 ounces (10-25%) and are 24” long (10-25%).  We do feel like you had a growth spurt this month, in that all you wanted to do was eat, but your dad and I didn’t figure this out right away. Poor kid. So we think you’re happier now getting more ounces while at school and you’re sleeping much better too! Newest nicknames: Drool-bot, Whiney, and Bugs

You started rolling over from tummy to back this month, and you’re almost able to go from back to tummy. The first time your dad and I saw you do this you let your head hit the floor with a thud. Kind of scared us, but you were very proud of yourself.

You are also discovering your feet. You love to keep them up in the air during diaper changes too, which makes it very hard for me to get you changed!

School has been such a good experience for you and for mama. You are learning so much! You’ve become an expert at tummy time, and they’re even encouraging you to hold your own bottle. Miss Barbara also let me know that you’ve been enjoying the exersaucer at school….so we’ve borrowed one from your friend Austin and you LOVE it!

You are also becoming more aware of your surroundings. You recognize your bottle and get very excited at meal times. You also mistake our glasses and water bottles for yours. It seems you’ll drink pretty much anything! Including the bath water. You love to try and scoop it into your mouth when I’m rinsing you off. In fact it kind of upsets you when I tell you not to eat your soapy fingers.

Anything you can get your hands on will make it to your mouth. You love to play with your keys and are enjoying this independent play time. You have mastered yanking the paci out of your mouth but can’t quite get it positioned right to get it back in. This usually leads to a game of mama put it back in, James yank it out, and repeat.

And with the chick! Keeping the blanket straight is impossible now that you kick and move all the time.

We love you James and are so proud of all your developments. We can’t wait to see what this month holds!

What a handsome boy! All of us here at the Stuckey house are finally well, we've got to get together soon and see James before he's crawling!
