3 Months Old

Another monthly post already! Where did the time go?!

You’ve had a busy third month of life. We’ve watched you discover so many new things. You have started reaching for toys and have really mastered bringing your hands to your mouth. In fact its hard to keep your hands out of your mouth. This can be a challenge when you do this in the middle of a bath, soap and all. That’s why you’ve decided hanging out in the tub with clothes on is the best option.

You’re also really starting to love blankets. We just lay one in your lap and you giggle and pull it straight to your mouth. I was a blankie kid and this thrills me that you will be too!

I also made a big purchase for you this month. Big in the sense that I couldn’t believe the prices on these things at first, but have come to realize its a BIG time saver for me! Meet James’ jungle mobile friends.

He LOVES them, and could watch them dance all day.

Letting you play with your mobile means that I can do things like dry my hair or do my make up or get dressed! And since you have the choice between Mozart and Bach I feel like you’re learning something too. We highly recommend this mobile. Did I mention it has a remote control!! Seemingly excessive but totally worth the $5 up charge.

This month we also busted out the bumbo chair. I’ve bought this as a gift for other babies and touted how awesome it was and how every parent needed one…and yet I still hadn’t tried it with you. Thanks to the Brown’s gentle coaxing we set you in it for the first time.

James and Mama were both a little wary at first.

But, we quickly got the hang of it…

sort of.

There were definitely days this month that I felt like you woke up the next morning looking like a different child. You’re growing so quickly. I incorrectly diagnosed an ear ache for you and as a result you had to see the pediatrician. Thankfully you didn’t have one, but you did weigh in at 13 pounds! And you’ve probably surpassed that now.

You are eating about 4 oz. every 3 hours during the day and (fingers crossed, knock on wood, quit saying this out loud) are sleeping through the night from about 8pm – 6:30am. There have been nights here and there that you wake up at 2 or 3am just cause. But you have the best daddy in the world who gets up with you and rocks you back to sleep.

And most monumental, this month you started school. I’m grateful that my work has a daycare on site with excellent teachers. Your teacher’s name is Ms. Barbara and she loves to call you Mister James. You’ve taken to her very well and are a hit with all the ladies in your class. I on the other hand miss this face terribly while I’m at work.

I just can’t get to you fast enough at the end of the day. And those few hours before your bed time are so precious to me.

Tonight we managed to squeeze in your monthly photo shoot.

We brought you home from the hospital in this outfit, and look at you now! I’m going to have to retire it.

There you go with those hands again, so sweet.

This is the face you make when you make my favorite cooing sound.

You are certainly more active now during our shoots, so I decided to let you practice your tummy time. You’ve improved so much and I know I have Ms. Barbara to thank.

We are enjoying you so much James and are excited for all that you have in store for us. Our favorite time with you this month was when you truly  laughed…more than just a giggle. We even caught these sweet sounds on video! I promise to try and figure out how to post it here soon.

Happy Three Months Baby Boy Booger-Dee!

Check out Months One and Two.
