Sweet Baby James,
A whole half a year has gone by, I truly can’t believe it. I know I say this every month, but it’s crazy to think you are now closer to a year old than you are to a newborn! I have loved every minute of the past six months with you.
This is such a fun age. You are discovering new things every day and developing so much personality.
(Cute cute outfit courtesy of Miss Fannie Bradley and her mama! :) )
The dogs have brought you many laughs and smiles this month. Every time they walk by or come up to you, you giggle.
(This is a perfect picture of all my children. Laney the spazz always bringing you her bone, Glory calm, cool and collected, James totally entertained by his surroundings and my dear husband trying to wrangle them all. )
You’re reaching out to them too!
You LOVE when they tickle you with their noses.
You’re getting very close to being able to sit up on your own. We look forward to this milestone! High chairs here we come!
You have also started rolling around a lot more and are enjoying your tummy time. You have figured out how to move around in a circle on your belly reaching for different toys, and even on occasion have inched backwards.
So proud of yourself
Face planting is how you inch forward.
You are such a happy baby James. You are still sleeping through the night, with the occasional wake up when you flip onto your stomach and can’t get back. We are trying to break you of the swaddle since its often more trouble than its worth for all of us at this point. Napping is not your strong suit and you only take 2 or 3, 30 minute naps a day. Talk about an all day no break baby. But, the nights are great so we try not to complain.
Your teachers treat you so well and are always telling me what a joy you are, but they have been so anxious to start solids with you. Apparently you cause a fuss when you’re hungry…haha, but we already knew that. I tried to wait until you were 6 months old, but caved about a week before.
We started with rice cereal.
(Have I told you how much I love your chubby little feet?!)
You ate like a pro! Grabbing the bowl with both hands going in head first!
I think you liked it!
Mama and dad liked it too. It was so fun to experience new things with you. I’m also trying to make your baby food. My first attempt was carrots. You did really well with them too.
And yes it’s true what they say about food and the resulting poops. It’s Electric…Boogie Woogie.
Since then you’ve had avocados, pears, and bananas. You are a growing boy and weigh 17 pounds (50%) and are 27 inches long (75%). You are very interested in the foods we’ve been trying and we hope you keep up the good work in growth!
You had other things in mind while I was trying to do your monthly photo shoot. Namely, rolling over and eating your sign.
Please excuse the wrinkly sign.
Cute feet and chubby knees!
Every day when I pick you up from school you grab your daily paper and shove it in your mouth. I’m convinced its your favorite part of the day.
“MAMA! I’m going to eat the paper ok!?”
Sure, baby James but don’t get mad when dad has to extract the pieces.
Moving on to the chick pose… more rolling over and eating paper.
Your mouth is ALWAYS open….waiting to catch flies, or food, or paper, or anything that comes within a few inches of your face.
Your fine motor skills are developing so well. I love the look of concentration on your face in this photo.
You also have this adorable scrunchy face laugh that is so sweet and genuine. I’m still trying to catch it on film, but for now its ingrained in my memory as a sweet moment we share.
We love you so much baby boy and can’t wait to see what the next half of your first year holds. Thank you for being such a happy, giggly, inquisitive baby. You make life so much fun!
Love,
Mama and Mpampa.
Take a look back:

That outfit is cute because of James! I can't get over the blond hair.
